Australian Chaperoned or Nepalese Locally Led Treks?

The Australian Chaperoned treks are for those who would like to have someone with them who understands Australian culture and what we need. Your chaperone will be your ‘go-between’ to the Nepalese staff and locals, guiding and assisting you to ensure you have everything you need and that you’re happy and loving your experience.

Our Nepalese Locally Led treks are for those who want to receive all the same benefits, but you’re happy liaising with the local people. You’re happy to meet a stranger at the airport and do this without the same support offered on a chaperoned trek.

What time of year?

Late September to November and February to May are the main trekking months with fairly stable conditions, good visibility and temperatures. Mid May is the most popular time you’ll see climbers preparing for their ascent up Mount Everest.

Nepal has several other options if these main trekking seasons don’t suit you. Reach out and one of our experts will be able to help you plan and tailor your adventure to your needs.

Fantastic company to do an adventure with. Recently completed Kokoda with Cam James and crew and I wasn't disappointed. Very professional and well organised. The logistics were well put together and nothing left to chance. The trek itself lived up to it's reputation. We experienced Courage, Endurance, Mateship and Sacrifice at different level s and funnily enough all words enshrined on the war memorial at Isurava. I totally recommend Cam and his team as you will be in great hands.

Just spent the weekend with Brad, Jason, Luke and PK. What an amazing weekend with fantastic guides. Nothing was too much for them. We recently completed an 8 night/7-day Larapinta Walk The crew of 100% were outstanding from the moment we booked, to the day completed the trip. It was an unseasonal hot week, and some of the walks were modified, with our safety being paramount. The terrain is brutal and uncompromising, and must be respected. The landscape is stunning and mesmerizing, and never once did we tire of its beauty. Thanks to Nick and his team (Nicole, Chek, Liam, PK, Jamie, Ian, Ninga, Billy, Claudia) for an unforgettable experience. Moves are afoot to join you on a Base camp walk next year!! I cannot speak highly enough of 100%wwa and would highly recommend them to anyone. 😀

IMPORTANT INFo

The 100% Everest Difference

With 100% Everest, you can choose from any Nepalese adventure you can dream of. If you dream it, we will make it a reality and take care of all the administration and logistics for you. Then, we can take you to the top of the world if that’s your desire.

With 100% Everest, you can design the Nepalese adventure you desire, be it Everest or Annapurna Base Camp, the stunning Gokyo Lakes, Annapurna Circuit or an epic walk up the beautiful Mount Manaslu, the 8th highest mountain in the world. We can do it! We also specialise in peak climbing, so if you are looking at Island Peak, Mount Ama Dablam etc, we can facilitate this for you.

That said, if you have another trek within or around Nepal, we can facilitate it for you. Your only limitation with our adventures is your imagination.

When you book a trek with us, you pay in Australian Dollars. Many of our competitors seem cheaper, but this is because they’re selling treks in USD and tend not to include the additional costs, like mandatory tipping and in some instances, meals.

What this means is that not only are you protected by Australian Consumer Laws, but you’re not paying against a sliding USD market, your price is fixed!

With 100% Everest, there are no hidden costs; we even included the hidden mandatory tips for Nepalese staff in our package, paying this on your behalf, so you can take comfort that you don’t need to have an awkward exchange and or feel as though you have over or under paid a tip.

At 100% Everest, have an Australian Chaperone with you for the entirety of your adventure. This means that from the moment you arrive in Nepal, you have a friendly face and someone who understands not only what you want but what you need. They’re there to facilitate your every request.

Everest Frequently Asked Questions

Why do you seem so expensive compared to other companies?
Yes, we are and there is a very good reason too! When you look at other companies that facilitate treks in Nepal, they charge in US Dollars, not in Australian Dollars, which we do. When you book with us, because you are paying in AUD, you are protected by Australian Consumer Law, plus, the cost of your adventure isn’t assessed against a sliding US dollar market. In our packages, we’ve also included every cost that you would expect to pay, like domestic charters and tips! Tipping is expected in Nepal and is at a high rate. You would expect to pay $600AUD in tips for your adventure, we have included this into the cost and pay this on your behalf, this prevents you having to work out who to pay and at what rate.

Added to this, on our Australian Chaperoned Treks, you pay for one of our Australian team to be with you for the entirety of your adventure. They meet you at the airport in Kathmandu, show you around Thamel, and help take you to all of the stores that we recommend to buy any last-minute items you may need. Then, they walk the trek with you and do all of the liaison for you. This is why on the surface, our treks seem more expensive than our competitors. Believe us when we tell you, you will pay more with us, but you will reap the benefits from this to with a life changing adventure to remember.

How do I book a trek?
Just head to the ‘Dates’ section and select the adventure you’d like to book.

To book you will pay a 20% deposit of the full trek price. Please note that your deposit is non-refundable, but it is transferrable to another trek should you have to change trek dates. The balance of your payment will be due eight weeks prior to your trek. The deposit is non-refundable because it pays for the facilitation of your administration and your balance is due so far in advance so that we can pay for the services you require for your trek.

Do you have an age limit?
We don’t have an ‘age limit’ but what we would do if you have younger children or you are older is have a discussion and work with you. We’re not the ‘gate keepers’ and never tell people they can or can’t do something. We just guide you and let you make the best decision for you! The main thing that we will discuss with you is the fact that you will be on your feet for up to eight to ten hours a day, on consecutive days and at altitude. If you think this is ok, then we’re waiting to help take you!

What if I change my mind and can no longer trek?
You will see the full refund policy on this page. This details your options should you change your mind or can no longer trek.

Do you organise travel for us?
While we don’t facilitate your travel to and from Nepal, we work closely with an agent that knows what you will need. They’re able to book your flights and organise your travel insurance for you with your chosen airline, at a time and cost which suits you! They then send copies of this information to us, so this is one less thing you have to do.

How many people will be on my trek?
This varies, but you could expect to have not more than eight people on our group treks. We find this number is intimate enough that you don’t get lost, but big enough that you can find your own space when you want this too.

What is the accommodation like?
In Kathmandu, you will be in a 4-star hotel (twin share) and on the trail you will have twin share accommodation in the local Tea Houses (think like a ski lodge in Australia). The tea houses have bathrooms, a dining room and showers in the tea houses at the lower altitudes.

What if I don’t want twin share accommodation?
You’re able to purchase a single supplement at the time of booking. While this is not an issue in Kathmandu, there may be a time on the trail where this is unable to be achieved. This is due to the number of people on the trail at that time. We need you to know that there is no ability to pre-book accommodation in the Tea Houses, so we make every effort to make this a reality for you. If you choose the single supplement, please know we will do our best to achieve this while you trekking.

What will I eat on the trail?
Each Tea House we stay in has a kitchen and dining room with a full menu. You will have a range of choices to suit all diets, allergies and or intolerances. Note: If you have an allergy, intolerance or preference, we will work with you so the trekking and kitchen staff know what they can prepare for your meals.

What administration do I need to complete to be ready to travel?
When you book, we send you a letter which details the initial things we need you to do. When this is returned to us, we send you a full set of instructions including dates of flights, pre-travel covid vaccine proof requirements, visa applications, transportation in Nepal, your hotel and what you equipment you need to bring with you.

As a part of this is a risk waiver and a medical questionnaire that needs to be facilitated by a physician. We need a copy of your travel insurance and you’re all set.

This may sound like a lot, but it’s pretty easy and we help you along the way!

Why do I need travel insurance to travel with you?
It is a mandatory requirement that all participants on one of our adventures have travel insurance. Travel insurance not only protects you from theft and cancelled flights, but it means that if you become ill or are injured, we can evacuate you to the nearest suitable medical facility, where they pay for your treatment. Furthermore, in extreme cases, your travel insurer will pay for your return to Australia. It is for this reason why travel insurance in mandatory. Note: In order for the best protection of your adventure, we recommend you obtain your travel insurance as soon as you book your trek with us. In the event something happens, your insurance protects your booking.

I don’t want to trek with a group, I want to trek alone, can you help?
Yes, we can! Whilst the cost to do this will be more than a group rate, we can facilitate your travel should you want to go by yourself with a guide. If this is what you want, get in touch, we’re here to assist you.

Do I need to be vaccinated?
100% Everest holds no stance on whether you should be vaccinated, but both the Australian and Nepalese Governments do. For this reason, if you’re not fully vaccinated, you may not be able to trek.

Refund Policy

To book with 100% Everest we require a 20% (non-fundable) deposit of the full package cost. Should you desire, you are welcome to pay for your adventure in full at the time of booking.  Should you pay in full at the time of booking, please be aware that 20% of the full package cost remains non-refundable. The 20% is non-refundable as it covers our cost to facilitate your administration.

Should you desire, you’re welcome to pay for your adventure incrementally and interest free. You are also welcome to pay the balance of your account in one payment, not later than eight-weeks prior to the date of your intended arrival to chosen adventure destination. Receipt of your adventure fee eight-weeks prior allows 100% Everest to facilitate payments to external suppliers for the facilitation your adventure.

Please be aware: Within eight-weeks of the date of travel, should you decide that you no longer wish to travel, or you can no longer travel on the chosen date, your money is no longer refundable, it has been spent in good faith with our suppliers for the facilitation of your adventure. You now hold travel credits with 100% Everest to the value of your invested funds.

Please be aware: You are entitled to transfer your 100% Everest travel credits to another adventure within a 12-month period. You are also entitled to transfer your 100% Everest travel credits to a third-party. In the event the third-party option is chosen, 100% Everest requires an additional 20% deposit for the facilitation of new administration for the third-party.

Please be aware: You will be contacted by 100% Everest nine-weeks prior to the date of intended travel to seek your endorsement to proceed with your booking. Should you decide you no longer wish to proceed with your booking, you are entitled to a refund on all invested monies, with the exception of the ‘non-refundable 20% deposit’. Notification of your intended withdrawal must be confirmed with 100% Everest prior to eight-weeks of the intended date of arrival to your chosen adventure destination.

Please be aware: That in the event you decide within eight-weeks prior to the date of travel that you no longer wish to travel with 100% Everest, or you are unable to travel within the following 12-month period, you are required to seek a refund of your monies through your travel insurer.

Insurance: 100% Everest recommends that you obtain travel insurance prior to booking your adventure with us. A travel insurance policy purchased at the earliest available opportunity affords the highest chance of payout. Please do not delay the purchase of travel insurance. Insurance companies retain the right to refuse making payment due to a lack of time between the purchase of a policy and an application for payment.

In the event you are not entitled to a refund of monies aligned with this 100% Everest refund policy, and you do not wish to use your travel credits within the following 12-month period, 100% Everest is not liable for the release of funds.

COVID related issues: In the event that a COVID travel restriction is emplaced within eight weeks of the date of intended travel, 100% Everest holds travel credits to the value of your investment for a period of 12 months, you are not entitled to a refund.

With respect to your vaccination status, please note: 100% Everest respect your right to receive or not receive a COVID 19 vaccination. 100% Everest takes no stance on vaccinated/ non-vaccinated participation; however, we are subject to national and international legislations that can be.

Legislation with respect to COVID 19 vaccination status may dictate a client’s participation, and 100% Everest is under no obligation to refund any monies as a result of national and or international legislation with respect to your vaccination status and travel – this is your responsibility. Any refund request in relation to your vaccination status remains your responsibility, no refund will be issued outside of the normal refund policy.
